Today marks the seventh annual New York Surf Week on the South Shore.
The highlight of the week is the open surf contest off National Boulevard Beach in Long Beach.
It will run all day Thursday starting at 7 a.m.
Other events include a surf outing for the blind today and a kids surf contest on Saturday.
