Beach lovers may have to dig a little deeper into their pockets to enjoy the shore in Long Beach this summer.
The City Council is considering a plan to raise beach fees in order to make up for the loss of $900,000 to operate the beach.
The plan would increase most fees, including annual adult passes for residents, which could climb from $40 to $60. Non-resident daily passes may rise from $12 to $16.
City Manager Jack Schnirman says the increased fees would generate $1.5 million for the city.
The city last raised its beach fees in 2012.
