Live wires ignite cars in Great Neck

Live wires came down onto a car, igniting it and spreading onto another vehicle Friday morning in Great Neck.

The Manhasset Lakeville Fire Department said it happened at the rear of 19 West Mill Road just after 10 a.m. The first fire engine responded to the scene three minutes later.

PSEG Long Island was also called to the scene to shut the power down by about 11:45 a.m.

Firefighters say two cars were almost completely burned, and a third vehicle had damage to the paint.

The fire department says it took two and a half hours get the fire under control.

There were no injuries.

PSEG Long Island says power was restored around 7 p.m.
