After 27 consecutive days of above-average temperatures, Long Island's winter businesses are feeling the heat on their bottom lines.
At Christopher Morley State Park in North Hills, the ice at the outdoor skating rink has all but melted. Retailers of ski supplies and other winter paraphernalia report disappointing sales due to the lack of cold and snow.
However, when one industry suffers, another profits. Golf courses around the Island say their December revenues were way up because of the warm weather. The Nassau County Parks Department will reopen the golf courses at Bay Park and Christopher Morley Park Saturday.
