Scott Armstrong of Commack and his 1,456 pound pumpkin were recently crowned the largest pumpkin in the area.

The pumpkin was given the title during the Hicks Nursery competition.

Armstrong said the pumpkin is now being carved by Sue Beatrice and Andy Gertler.
