Long Island Rail Road riders are bracing for what could be nightmarish travel to and from work during Wednesday's storm.
Commuters say they hope the railroad handles the job better than it did during Friday's nor'easter, when service was slowed or suspended on multiple lines. Many riders who spoke to News 12 said they had low expectations for the LIRR.
The LIRR said its storm response plan was already in motion Tuesday evening. It includes removing ice from the railway, heating switch equipment and deploying snow removal crews and rail-mounted snowblowers at pre-positioned locations.
Marc Epstein from the Long Island Rail Road Commuter Council said he hopes to see running trains on Wednesday.
"We want to get from point A to point B," he told News 12.
When asked what he expected, he quipped, "to be late to work."
