The entire LIRR is marking 180 years today of bringing Long Islanders to their destination.
Chartered in 1834, it's the oldest railroad in the country still operating under its original name.
The MTA held a special celebration in Mineola, where historic photos and artifacts were on hand for train enthusiasts.
There was also a drawing for free tickets to the New York Auto Show, and for tickets to some local sports games.
An average of 301,000 commuters use the LIRR each weekday, making it the busiest commuter railroad in North America.
