The Long Island Rail Road experienced delays and cancellations again during the evening rush Monday due to a signal problem in one of the East River tunnels.
Westbound service between Jamaica and Penn Station and Woodside and Penn on the Port Washington Branch was suspended but has been restored.
The LIRR is operating on or close to schedule and officials say they don't expect Monday's troubles to affect the Tuesday morning commute.
Frequent riders say such delays are becoming commonplace.
Tad Gruenewald says his three-hour commute stretches to about four hours and 30 minutes when the railroad is going through such issues.
"Between New Jersey Transit and the LIRR," Gruenewald says, "Their service as of late has not been stellar."
Amtrak has announced plans for renovations at Penn Station this summer to fix the infrastructure.
