More service options are on the way to make getting around the South Fork a little easier for Long Island Rail Road riders.
The South Fork Commuter Connection starts on March 4.
Officials hope commuters will drive to one of the stations on the western side of the South Fork -- Speonk, Westhampton or Hampton Bays. Then, they can take a train to points east, hop on a bus and go to work. LIRR President Phillip Eng says a single fare is $4.25.
Officials say because of the high cost of living in the Hamptons, many people who work there are from out of town.
Assemblyman Fred Thiele says it's an enticing option for people living in Brookhaven, on the North Fork or in western Southampton.
