A gas leak at SUNY Old Westbury forced over 50 children attending a baseball camp to evacuate.

The Nassau Fire Marshal's Office says a high-pressure gas main serving the scientific and athletic buildings was struck by a contractor while excavating.

National Grid was able to put a clamp on the damaged pipe and will continue to work on repairs through the evening.

SUNY Old Westbury officials confirmed on Saturday morning that National Grid completed repairs and restored gas service to both buildings.
