The president and CEO of the Long Island Power Authority announced Wednesday low-income seniors over the age of 62 can apply for $200 credits toward their power bills.
According to Kevin Law, LIPA will use nearly $10 million obtained in a settlement with National Grid on the credits.
In order to qualify for monetary assistance, seniors must earn less than $23,500 a year if they live alone. Residents can get application forms from a LIPA customer service center or call 1-800-490-0025. Money will be given out on a first come, first serve basis.
