The LIPA board has rejected the committee recommendation to have Quanta Services replace PSEG Long Island as manager of the power grid.
PSEG is the third-party manager of LIPA. It has operated the grid for the past decade and made a bid to continue that agreement.
However, documents from the committee stated that Quanta’s proposal would provide the best value to customers.
The board chair expressed concerns over Quanta’s lack of familiarity with Long Island and experience as an end-to-end provider.
The proposal was rejected Wednesday in a 6-1 vote, with two board members choosing to abstain.
