The LIPA board voted Wednesday to approve the 2024 budget, which includes a rate hike of 11.6%.
The average monthly bill is predicted to increase by $19.43, to $186.71.
The utility blames the rate increase on an anticipated hike in the cost of power and fuel in the new year.
