Suffolk police have arrested a 31-year-old Lindenhurst man and his girlfriend and charged them with identity theft.
Police say Ozgur Dursun and 25-year-old Serap Terzi were stealing credit card numbers from customers at gas stations where Dursun worked. Terzi would then use cloned cards to purchase food, cigarettes and gasoline. Investigators say they found evidence of the skimming operation inside the couple?s home. Both were charged with identity theft and forgery.
Cops urge consumers to never let credit cards out of sight when making purchases and to always verify transactions.
