With Thanksgiving two days away, many Long Island families are finding it harder than ever to put food on their tables.

The Lighthouse Mission says Long Islanders can help needy families by donating their time during the holiday.

Pastor Craig Procida of the Lighthouse Mission says they are seeing more people who work, but still do not earn enough money to make it from paycheck to paycheck.

News 12 Long Island spoke to a person in need who said if they did not have a turkey given to them, they probably wouldn't be able to handle it on their own.
