There will be fewer Long Island lifeguards on the clock starting this week.
Newsday reports that the West Bathhouse swimming pool at Jones Beach will be closed Monday through Friday because some lifeguards have to go back to school. The same situation has arisen in Babylon.
It's because of this year's unusually late Labor Day.
However, both pools will be open for the holiday.
