Long Islanders planning to fly this summer are getting some bad news from the airlines.Some carriers are announcing that air fares and other related fees will be going up. The increases are being attributed to the high cost of fuel and recent financial losses.Delta Air Lines has said it will be raising its fares by as much as 20 percent to keep pace with fuel costs.In addition to fare increases, some airlines have said they will begin charging passengers an extra $25 to check in a second bag. That charge will also apply to customers who want a seat with extra leg room.
