Long Island travelers arrived early to airports Friday in anticipation of long lines at check-ins and security.
With new security measures in place, Long Islanders at MacArthur Airport packed differently and checked more bags. All U.S. airports increased security measures Thursday after British police foiled a terror plot to blow up several U.S.-bound planes. Airport officials also banned all liquids from carry-on luggage after word the suspects planned to use liquid explosives.
Many travelers say while the long lines and new security measures may be an inconvenience, they are necessary. Long Islanders also say by arriving early, the check-in and security processes may actually be faster. They add that packing lightly and putting all banned items in checked luggage will make the check-in process easier.
