Shoppers were flooding Roosevelt Field mall on Christmas Eve to get last-minute gifts for their families, friends and loved ones. One of the busy spots was Macy's, which has been open since 7 a.m. Friday. The company said it tested the idea last year at a store in Queens and that it was very successful. The Roosevelt Field store is one of eight locations in the area that has kept its doors open.A spokesman for the mall says many shoppers are lining up for Simon gift cards. The gift cards can be used at any Simon mall and wherever the Visa card is accepted. Some shoppers said they were at the mall because they were running out of time, despite getting an early start. Others said they enjoyed the overnight shopping due to less crowds and the bargains they found.
