After months of debate, voters on Long Island and around the country are casting their ballots for Election Day.

Besides picking a president, Long Islanders are voting on members of Congress, members of the state Assembly and control over the state Senate, which is a key battle on Long Island with Republicans currently in power.

All of the Island's congressional seats are up for grabs. As News 12 has reported, Democrats need 30 seats in a long-shot bid to take control of the House from Republicans.

In the Senate, incumbent Democrat Charles Schumer faces a challenge from Republican Wendy Long. There are also 33 other Senate races nationwide.

Long Islanders are also voting in nine state Senate races. In addition, 22 seats in the state Assembly are on the ballot.

The polls are open until 9 p.m.
