Tattoo artists rallied in Centereach Wednesday over a law set to go into effect in December.
The measure will force them to work with "single-use" packs of ink.
Supporters believe it will help stop the spread of diseases like hepatitis C. Tattoo artists claim it will drive up costs, and drive some people to risk their health by going to cheaper, unlicensed artists.
One of the New York senators who sponsored the bill tells News 12 that lawmakers will work to change the language of the law so it doesn't hurt businesses.
An earlier version of this story incorrectly reported that the rally was over a fight against single-use needles.
