Two Long Island pilots returned home Saturday after being detained and charged in connection with one of the deadliest plane crashes in Brazil?s history. Joseph Lapore and Jan Paladino were greeted by family and friends at Long Island McArthur Airport after being held by the Brazilian government for 70 days. The pilots are charged with exposing an aircraft to danger after their jet collided in the air with a passenger plane. All 154 people aboard Gol flight 1907 were killed when their plane crashed in the Amazon jungle. Lapore and Paladino were able to make an emergency landing and walked away from the accident. Upon arrival at the airport, the pilots and their lawyers asked the crowd to join them in a moment of silence for the victims of flight 1907. Congressman Peter King (R-NY) says he is confident the charges against the two men will be dropped.Related Information:
