An Old Bethpage native is celebrating a milestone--working 5,000 professional games with the NHL.
Bruce Bennett has been a photographer with the league for 40 years.
A typical game is six hours of work, meaning Bennett has spent about 3 1/2 years of his life sitting behind the glass following players with his camera.
Bennett estimates that he's taken more than a 1.5 million hockey pictures in his career. He says some of the best ones are pure luck, like Sidney Crosby's game-winning Olympic goal for Canada in 2010.
Bennett is also behind the famous 1980 shot with Mike Bossy's stick on fire.
Bennett says he's taken so many photos that it's hard to pick his favorite. But, he's got a few more years to snap it, because the shutterbug isn't shutting down any time soon.
