Several Long Island parks were staying open late Thursday to accommodate star-gazers looking for a dazzling display.
A celestial show called the Perseids Meteor Shower was expected overnight Thursday into Friday morning, with peak times from 11 p.m. until dawn.
Jones Beach State Park, Sunken Meadow State Park and Montauk Point State Park all announced they would be open late for viewing.
