Long Island native, Gabriel Cordell, made history Monday evening when he rolled into West Hempstead.

Cordell became the first person to travel the U.S. in a manual wheelchair.

The 42-year-old left Santa Monica, Calif. in April. He ended his 3,100-mile ride at his alma mater, West Hempstead High School.

Cordell was injured in a car accident in 1992. His 99-day ride is the focus of a documentary called "Roll With Me."

"Sometimes complaintancy is something that is practiced too often," said Cordell, after finishing his journey. "I want people to think about their lives, and try to live up to their potential."
