It's Long Island Marathon weekend, and thousands of runners are expected to participate in races today and tomorrow.

Marathon events include a traditional 26-mile race, a half marathon, 10K, 5K, 1-mile run, Kids Fun Run and other festivities.

The 26.2-mile Long Island Marathon, which stretches from Charles Lindbergh Boulevard in Uniondale to Eisenhower Park, will take place on Sunday. There is some wet weather in the forecast, News 12 meteorologists say.

Ajay Rampal says his whole family is participating in the various events. Maritza Jones, an experienced runner, says her favorite part is seeing other people reach the end of their first marathon.

"We have our fingers crossed on the weather," County Executive Ed Mangano says.
