A Brentwood man who admitted he tried to join al-Qaida has been sentenced to 25 years in prison.
Marcos Alonzo Zea, 26, was sentenced today.
Zea was arrested three years ago trying to fly from London to Yemen.
In September, Zea admitted he was going to join the al-Qaida terrorist affiliate AQAP in Yemen.
Officials say that once Zea arrived back on Long Island, he gave money to a co-conspirator and told him how to elude surveillance. That co-conspirator was also caught and has since pleaded guilty.
