Health officials say a Long Islander may have the first case of West Nile this year.

A 38-year-old East Yaphank man had to be hospitalized this month, according to Newsday.

The state hasn't confirmed his case but if they do he could be the first case in the state this year.

Earlier this month mosquitoes tested positive for West Nile in eight Suffolk County towns.
