The Long Island Geek Convention kicked off Saturday in Ronkonkoma.
For the show, MacArthur Airport was transformed into a space filled with games, displays, panel discussions and cosplayers, or people who dress as their favorite characters from pop and geek culture.
People also got a chance to meet the television or movies stars who play their beloved characters, such as David Warner, who has appeared in "Star Trek," "Titanic" and "The Omen."
According to Warner, conventions such as this are one of the few places where he can meet a complete stranger who truly appreciates his work.
Event organizer Ken Deep says that the fun and games are certainly not just for children. He says the convention allows fellow fans of all things nerdy, regardless of age, to come together and be themselves.
The Long Island Geek Convention runs through Sunday.
