LI Christians observe Ash Wednesday

Long Island Christians marked the beginning of Lent today by getting ashes on their forehead in the shape of a cross.  Wednesday marked Ash Wednesday, and the ashes are a symbol of repentance and reflection.

Long Island Christians marked the beginning of Lent today by getting ashes on their forehead in the shape of a cross. 
Wednesday marked Ash Wednesday, and the ashes are a symbol of repentance and reflection. 
Lent is the holiest season for Christians and lasts for 40 days in preparation for Easter.
