Some of Long Island’s brides and an assemblywoman came together Friday to push for lighter COVID-19 restrictions on weddings.
Assemblywoman Jodi Giglio joined Brides of Long Island in Hauppauge, which is seeking the easing of the current rules. They
launched a petition, which they will send to Gov. Andrew Cuomo and other elected officials.
The group is seeking to do away with the testing requirement, event vendors to be eligible for vaccinations, a lift on the current venue curfew and the removal of dancing squares.
Currently, venues are restricted to 50% capacity, with no more than 150 attendees.
All attendees also must have proof of a recent negative COVID-19 test or vaccination.
Venues are also required to notify local health departments of large events above the social gathering limit in advance.
Masks currently are required at all times except when seated, eating or drinking.
