A 7-Eleven owner will serve more than seven years in prison for exploiting immigrants who worked for him on Long Island.
Farrukh Baig, of Head of the Harbor, was sentenced Monday in Central Islip federal court.
Prosecutors say Baig smuggled Pakistani immigrants into the area and forced them to work long hours. In addition, they say Baig only paid workers a fraction of what they earned.
Baig must pay millions in back wages and serve 87 months in prison.
