The Levittown Red Devils peewee football team lost its practice field, but Nassau County officials are trying to score the team a new end zone.
The team played on Holy Trinity High School's field in Hicksville Tuesday night. The squad could no longer play at the Frederick J. Niest Memorial Sports Complex in Levittown because officials say not enough team members are Levittown residents. The team had played there for decades.
The town council says the team can only use the field if more than half of the players are Levittown residents.
Nassau County Executive Laura Curran says the Red Devils can play at Eisenhower Park for the rest of the summer as the county looks for their new permanent home.
Steve Castleton, of the New York Jets, says he heard about the team needing a new home and wanted to treat the kids. They'll head to MetLife Stadium Friday night to watch the Jets play the Atlanta Falcons.
