A Levittown man says a group of people stole catalytic converters Monday from vehicles parked in front of his house.
Brian, who did not want his last name used, says he is also upset that town sanitation workers did nothing when they saw the theft happening.
"They could have beeped the horn, came and knocked on my door, called the police right away," Brian says. "I'm not saying put themselves in harm's way."
News 12 reached out to the Town of Hempstead about the video of the theft. In a statement, the director of communications for the town said, "The Town of Hempstead does not provide police service for any of its jurisdictions. The law enforcement community does not encourage civilians to engage with any criminals. Anyone witnessing criminal activity should immediately call their local police department or 911."
