An 8-year-old girl from Greenlawn was selling lemonade Sunday to raise money for children who need corrective surgery.
Ella Pastorelli was born with a cleft lip and had corrective surgery as a baby. She set up a stand in front of her home Sunday to raise money for Smile Train, an organization that provides surgery for less fortunate children who have cleft lips and palates.
Ella has raised money for the cause in the past. Last year, she raised more than $20,000 for Smile Train.
"By 5 years old, she was full-blown involved," says Ella's dad, Jimmy Pastorelli. "She really wanted it to make it a special part of her birthday, because it's in a couple days, so we always do it around her birthday weekend. And she says in lieu of having a party, this is her party -- her time that she wants to bring everyone together and raise money at the same time."
