Moves are being made nationwide to crack down on scammers and robocalls.

Consumer Reports says that as of November, U.S. phone users have received nearly 54 billion robocalls this year alone.

But the TRACED Act signed by President Donald Trump Monday hopes to combat these numbers by giving users better protection against scammers and unwanted calls.

The bill would in part increase the penalty against robocallers who illegally target people. The legislation comes on the heels of measures taken by the FCC, and would work to roll out free call blocking services, as well as a call authentication technology that helps label calls as spam.

Viewers say they are still concerned scammers will find a way around the law and that the new bill will do nothing to stop calls that are not automated.
