Lawmakers will be meeting Monday to debate a plan to bail out the MTA.Newsday reports that lawmakers are considering a payroll tax to help the MTA close a $1.2 billion deficit. Long Island lawmakers have said they are against the plan since it will tax local employers.The MTA has voted to raise fares on trains, subways and buses due to the deficit. Without a bailout plan, the hikes will go into effect at the end of next month.
