The last Toys R Us stores in the U.S. are slated to close Friday – leaving a sense of sadness and nostalgia for shoppers.
News 12 was at the store location in Carle Place, where people were taking pictures and saying goodbye to a part of their childhood.
"We're sad to see it go,” said Christina Aristilde, of Freeport. “I was talking with my son this morning about how online shopping is taking over, which is why this institution will be no more.”
Although many told News 12 that the shelves in the store are bare, many shoppers were seen exiting the location with plenty of toys.
