The Lake Ronkonkoma Improvement Group is completing another project in its ongoing effort to beautify the area.
The group of volunteers painted a historical rendition mural at the site of the Metzner Estate, which once had a series of gazebos and a bathhouses. The painted wall had been lined with graffiti.
"We want it to look pretty while people are walking by," says Evelyn Volgraff. She says the group of volunteer artists are putting the finishing touches on the wall.
Since its inception last year, the Lake Ronkonkoma Improvement Group has been credited with getting the site of the Bavarian Inn remediated, cleaning up the site of a burnt-out bookstore and removing nearly 80 tons of trash from the lake area.
