A Long Island woman has become the first cancer patient on the East Coast to undergo a new chemo treatment.
Anita Wolf, of Lake Grove, was diagnosed with colon cancer in 2019.
Last month, the 74-year-old decided to participate in the "PIPAC" clinical trial through Northwell LIJ.
The treatment involves three surgeries, six weeks apart.
"I hope that it will help me go through this and be fine, but I also want it to be an opening block for other people that have the cancer similar to what I have and hopefully it'll help people down the road," says Wolf.
LIJ is the second site in the nation to enroll a patient in this clinical study.
