College lacrosse teams faced off at Bethpage High School today in the fourth annual Battle at Bethpage.
Men's players from Princeton University took on Cornell on the field in front of a crowd that packed the bleachers.
The event was sponsored by the Bethpage Educational Foundation, which was created seven years ago by Bethpage alumni who were concerned that budget constraints were having an adverse effect on students. The foundation's fundraisers help supply grants, travel programs, music and science programs and more for the school district.
Foundation President Marc Seiben says last year's Battle of Bethpage raised between $30,000 and $40,000, and this year he expects about the same. Organizers say more than 4,000 people were in attendance today.
Cornell won today's game 12-10.
