This Labor Day weekend is expected to be the busiest for travel since 2008.AAA says 33 million Americans will travel 50 miles or more during the Labor Day holiday weekend, which is up 3 percent from last year, despite higher gas prices.The national average for a gallon of regular gas is currently $3.83. Long Islanders, however, are paying more at $4.04 per gallon.The Long Island Rail Road is running extra trains today to get travelers to their holiday getaways. Trains will run on a holiday schedule Monday, with additional westbound trains on the Montauk branch.Police will also be boosting patrols and cracking down on both drunken drivers and boaters.
