Hurricane Kyle may have spared Long Island a direct hit, but it's caused beach erosion along the South Shore.
Hurricane Kyle sent large waves slamming into the shores at Robert Moses State Park.
"I was here two weeks ago and there was way more beach than there is right now," says Cathy Kurtz, of Lindenhurst.
Watching the beach wash away has some beachgoers nervous they won't have much more time to enjoy their peaceful places.
"We've lost about 2 1/2 to 3 feet in height along the entire beachfront, probably about 40 feet to 50 feet toward the ocean," says George Gorman, New York State Parks director of operations.
Officials say they're hopeful to put a sand-replenishment project in place by the winter.
