Kingsbridge resident Joseph Rodriguez says his bathroom has been unusable for almost a year, describing it as a nightmare he cannot wake up from.
Tarps cover his exposed walls, and wooden planks cover holes in his bathroom floor.
"A year taking a bath at the kitchen sink," said Rodriguez.
He says for years, his entire apartment had mold.
"This is where I said originally, where the mold started. It ran from the top all the way down to the bottom," Rodriguez said as he pointed out the crumbling window in his bathroom.
News 12 cameras captured spores on his front door. He says it got so bad last year that management started to fix it.
"They were working on the bathroom one to two days," he says.
He says they stripped the bathroom bare, but they never came back to finish the work.
Rodriguez only has one bathroom in his apartment, and the only thing usable in it is the toilet.
He showed News 12 crews how he has had to bathe himself at his kitchen sink since June.
"Kinda like a bird bath," he said.
For 11 months, he says he has tried to get his bathroom fixed, even getting city agencies involved.
"They finally made a decision, saying that they were going to take care of it (the bathroom) themselves, HPD, and then they were going to charge the landlord, the property management for the work, but they never came through," he says.
News 12 has reached out to his building management company multiple times and received no response.
News 12 also followed up on his HPD request, and it said it is looking into it.
