Some pre-K students battling cancer received their diplomas Wednesday during a graduation ceremony in Hicksville.
The Morgan Center, a nonprofit organization, provides children who are undergoing treatment for cancer the opportunity to interact and socialize with other students that are going through similar circumstances.
Each one of the graduates in the pint-sized processional was either battling cancer or in remission.
"The other part of their life is hospitals and needles and pain. We're the part that gives them back their childhood," said Nancy Zuch, of The Morgan Center.
The preschool was started in 2003 by a family whose daughter, Morgan, was diagnosed with leukemia at the age of 2. She is now a teenager and cancer-free.
This is the 12th preschool graduation at the Morgan Center.
