Hurricane Helene is now projected to become a monster Category 4 hurricane by Thursday afternoon.

Landfall is likely before midnight Friday in the Big Bend area. It's remnants will make a close call with our area late Friday night and early Saturday.

It is too soon to know how much rain is on the way, but it will be blustery with 20 to 30 mph gusts and plenty of cloudy conditions. Sunday will be the brighter, nicer half of the weekend.

Check back here for hyperlocal updates on the rain and Helene.
