The jury deciding the fate of a black man charged with killing an unarmed white teen told the judge it was deadlocked during its third day of deliberations Friday.
John White is charged with killing 17-year-old Daniel Cicciaro in August 2006. White testified he thought he was going to be harmed when the teen and four friends came to his house after getting in a fight with his son.
The jury sent a note to the judge after lunch that said it was ?hopelessly deadlocked? on the first count against White, second-degree manslaughter. The jury can also consider a misdemeanor charge of negligent homicide.
Jurors resumed deliberations after receiving more instructions from the judge. The jury will return to court Saturday.
