The Farmingdale teen who recently pleaded guilty in a street race that killed five of his friends may see his sentence increased after a new arrest.
Corey Gloe, 19, had agreed to a plea deal for six months in jail, but police arrested him again this week on a knife possession charge.
Gloe's arrest violates the terms of the plea deal he made with a judge in the racing case. He pleaded guilty on March 10 to participating in a 2014 street race in Farmingdale that ended in the crash that killed his friends, who were in a separate vehicle.
The plea came partly in exchange for the promise of youthful offender status, which would keep his criminal record sealed. But the judge told Gloe in court Friday that he was no longer bound by the deal.
The prospect of a maximum prison sentence of five to 15 years is back on the table.
Gloe was remanded without bail and is due back in court in April for a conference on the new arrest. His sentencing for the drag race is set for May 20.
