A judge issued a temporary restraining order against C. W. Post Friday that stops the university from firing five resident advisors who produced a controversial video.
Five seniors at the university say they made the two-minute video as a form of satire. In the video, Middle Eastern terrorists take a rubber dock hostage and demand an iPod, baked goods and 49 virgins as ransom. It was posted briefly on YouTube before the controversy spread. University officials immediately fired the resident advisors from their dormitory jobs and threatened expulsion. The judge's ruling prevents C. W. Post from going forward with disciplinary actions for the time being.
The students say they did not mean to offend anyone and apologize if they have done so. The group also says it has filed a lawsuit against the university.
