A federal judge has ruled that the lawsuit against McDonald?s that started in the Bronx may go forward.

Parents of two minors claim McDonald?s falsely advertised its food as nutritious. The parents say the food led the children to develop health problems, such as obesity and diabetes. McDonald?s has maintained its innocence because there is no way to prove the claims.

According to the judge, the case can continue because the families were able to show which advertisements were deceptive. The judge ruled there should be a line drawn between individual responsibility and society?s responsibility for what people eat. Critics of the case say this is an example of Americans blaming others for their own bad habits. McDonald?s now has 30 days to respond.
